President Sha Hailin Investigates Meituan Shanghai Headquarters
On the morning of January 16, President Sha Hailin and his delegation visited Meituan Shanghai Headquarters. The investigation focused on topics such as service guarantees for new employment groups, corporate social responsibility practices, and the participation of digital platforms in urban governance, aiming to explore innovative paths for promoting high-quality development through government-enterprise-society collaboration. Zhou Ping, executive vice president of the Association, and Gu Jiahe, vice president, also participated in the visit. Mao Fang, vice president of Meituan and secretary of the Party Committee of Meituan (Shanghai), received the delegation and accompanied them on the tour and exchange.

President Sha and his delegation first visited the Meituan Urban Service Digital Dashboard, where they observed real-time dynamic data on delivery rider routes, community service responses, and emergency support. They gained detailed insights into the platform's technological applications and operational models in areas such as instant retail, livelihood supply assurance, and green low-carbon initiatives. Meituan Vice President Mao introduced that as an internet platform enterprise rooted in Shanghai, Meituan remains committed to its mission of "We help people eat better, live better." The company continuously improves service efficiency through technological innovation while actively fulfilling its social responsibilities by promoting rider rights protection, community integration, and sustainable development. Meituan highlighted its signature public welfare projects, including the "Kangaroo Baby Home," "Rider-Friendly Community Construction," and the "Green Mountain Plan." Among these, the "Kangaroo Baby Home," a public childcare service for children of new employment groups, has been implemented in multiple regions across the country, effectively alleviating the "childcare difficulties" faced by rider families. The "Rider-Friendly Community" initiative, through collaboration with subdistricts and communities, facilitates riders' integration into grassroots governance, transforming their role from "service recipients" to "governance partners." The "Green Mountain Plan" supports urban ecological civilization construction by promoting green packaging, recycling and regeneration, and ecological restoration.
President Sha highly commended Meituan's achievements in the field of technology retail. He stated that Meituan, by empowering development through technological innovation, has not only advanced the retail industry but also made positive contributions to improving people's living standards. He expressed hope that Meituan would continue to increase its R&D investment in new technologies to provide consumers with more convenient and efficient services, while actively participating in international competition to demonstrate the strength and excellence of Chinese enterprises.
He further pointed out that with the rapid development of the platform economy, new employment groups have become an indispensable force in urban operations. How to ensure that these groups "work with dignity and live with warmth" is a critical issue in the modernization of urban governance. He emphasized that the Shanghai Public Relations Association, as a 5A-level social organization and a grassroots legislative liaison point of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, will continue to play its role as a bridge and bond, promoting tripartite collaboration among the government, enterprises, and society to secure more policy support and social care for new employment groups.
